Youth Success Story Hayden Blagg

Hayden Blagg was enrolled in the Youth Ready Program in October of 2019. Hayden resided at the Kenneth Honey Rubenstein Juvenile Center in Thomas, WV while enrolled.

While in the Youth Ready Program, Hayden obtained a NCCER Certification in Building Construction and Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor Certificate. He also participated as a Pager in the WV Legislative Session, volunteered in the Rubenstein Center kitchen and with the grounds crew, and worked on the maintenance crew at Blackwater Falls State Park and for the City of Thomas. During his downtime he learned how to speak German.

In July of 2020 Hayden was released from the Kenneth Honey Rubenstein Center and moved back to his hometown in Clay County. In December of 2020, he enlisted in the Army. Hayden completed his basic training in Savannah, GA in June 2021. Hayden is now an 11 Bravo, which is an infantryman in the United States Army. In 2021 he was stationed at Fort Drum in Watertown, NY where he will continue his training for three years. Once his training is complete in NY, Hayden plans on reenlisting to go to Alaska, then enlist in the Army Reserves. He hopes to one day become a state trooper.
