The Region VI American Job Center is on the move! Starting in June of 2022, Region VI started the Mobile American Job Center, traveling to the more rural areas in our 13-county service region. With the goal of reaching individuals that do not have easy access to the AJC locations, the Mobile AJC provides the opportunity for individuals to learn about and take advantage of services offered by the AJC as well as our partners. Mobile AJCs are set up in high traffic areas, such as grocery and retail stores, or at community events, such as the Philippi Cupcake Jubilee, to reach as many people as possible. In 2022, the Mobile AJC visited Gilmer, Braxton, Tucker, Barbour, and Preston Counties. We took a different approach to the Mobile AJC for Preston County and partnered with Food for Preston to distribute information to Preston County residents at the Mobile Food Pantry in December. Several of our partners including Jobs & Hope, Pierpont Community & Technical College, and Adult Education have joined us by attending the Mobile AJCs and providing information to individuals that could utilize their services. The Mobile American Job Center will be ongoing throughout 2023.
